RE: Work N Play any one have on or any opinions

I also have a 34ft 5th wheel and love it. Like others have said, not as fancy as others but you want have to worry about broke axels, overloaded tires/axels. This thing is built on a comerical car hauler frame and has 4 inch square hydraulic front jacks. They now make a couple of slide out models plus a couple that are 44 feet long. Better have a big truck to pull it with. I pull mine with a 2006 F350 with no problem. Max weight is a little over 15,000 pounds. I have towed mine all over the US in the last two years with my Two motorcycles in the back and have not have one problem.

RE: Gatlinburg, sites, a little different request>

Try www.ironhorsec.com, It is Iron Horse motorcycle Lodge right by the Dragon. They have a real nice full hookup campground and they cater to bikers. Wife and I are going there in June with the toy hauler and bike.

RE: 10 foot cargo

Drive the first one and slide the other two in on the oil slick:B:B:B Sorry but i just couldn't help myself. Just a Yamaha owner giving you a hard time. I can fit my royal star tour deluxe and another bagger in my 10 ft garage but don't think I could get another bike in their. Might be able to get three in without saddle bags by putting two in faceing forward and one in the middle facing aft.

RE: Combination Truck/Fifth Wheel Dealers

Hollamans in Cincinnati sells GMC trucks and many brands of fifth wheels and motorhomes. Good people to deal with. They are actually in Bativia on route 32 just east of Cincinnati.

RE: Dodge Cummins Poll - :)

These threads are fun. It's kinda like asking whose child or grandchild is the cutest.

RE: Ford 6.0L PSD POLL

06 with over 40000 miles towing a 15000 pound 5th wheel and not one single problem. Do my own oil and fuel maint and have never set foot in the dealership since I bought it two years ago. Have read of many problems but have never talked to anyone in person that has had a problem. With as many 6.0's as there are on the road I'm sure there have been problems. This is my second PSD the first was a 99 7.3 with over a 150,000 and no problems. I think that most problems with the 6.0 were because of tuners. I would buy a F450 if I did't like this truck so much. My nose hasn't grown since I started this message so I guess I'm not a liar.

RE: Diesel Owners Poll

When the 18 wheelers go back to gas then I might consider it. Not very likely.

RE: State and County Parks in the Black Hills Area

I know you said you wanted to stay away from private c/g but you might want to try Big Pine c/g in custer. We have stayed there many times and loved it. The owners ars super nice people and the c/g is set in tall pines. Very quiet and secluded.

RE: Fifth-Wheel hitches

My RBW hitch has a four way piovting head that can be locked in the non pivot mode for highway towing and the unlocked to pivot for unhitching on uneven ground. It has com in handy on numerous occiasions when I have had to unhook in an unlevel spot. Also has the bar slide but I thing either type locking system is fine. I have owned both types and all I can say is i love the pivoting head with the lockout feature. Good luck on your new fiver.

RE: Work n play

I have the 34ft 5th wheel and love it.I carry two large motorcycles in the garage and with the 5000lb cargo capacity, i don't have to worry about weight. The unit is built like a tank and comes with E rated 16 inch tires. I like it much better than I do my regular Wilderness 5th wheel. The wife and I took it to Sturgis this year and it is very comfortable. The 34ft has a queen bed up top. I made cables to attach to the rear ramp to make a patio and it works great. I tow with my 2006 SD F350 CC larit. Average about 12MPG and really don't know that there is 34ft of trailer behine me. My came generator ready but I did not purchase the onboard generator but use a Champion 4000 watt portable.

RE: Cargo trailers with living quarters, Good, Bad & Ugly.

I have the Work and Play 34ft 5th wheel and just got back from two weeks in the Black Hills and truly love this toy hauler. I carry two street bikes. This unit has a cargo capacity of 5,000 lbs. The unit is built like a tank. Only draw backs are the lack of insulation in the walls, no enclosed belly or heated holding tanks. If you don't do winter camping this is not a problem, although we have camped in it in the winter and was confortable but would not be in below freezing weather. Work and Play has a new 38ft SL model that I saw at Strugis that is awesome. It has a 12ft slide out and comes standard with trail air pin box and trail air supension. You will need a F450 or larger to tow it though as it has a 21000 lb GVWR and an almost 4000 lb pin weight. You can see an online brocher for all the Work and Play models at their web site. Just type in work and play.

RE: Work N' Play Quality?

I just got back from Strugis with my 34ft Work and Play 5th wheel and loved it. No problems with the unit and it tows like a dream. Much better than my Wildneress 5th wheel. With the 5000lb payload, I didn,t have to worry about overloadng. It has 16in 10 ply tires and torsion spring axels. The only thing I don,t like is the cabinets are not solid wood but vinyl covered to look like wood. No quality issues that I could see.

RE: Quart Mtn SP - Lake Altus Area?

I lived in Altus for 15 years and have many summers camping at Quartzs Mtn. There is a north shore camp ground that is nice and also the campgrounds on the lodge side of the lake. The lake can be low during late summers as they use it for irragation. Lots of wild life. Watch out for rattle snakes in this area. Don't normally see them in the campground but might if you do any rock climbing. Great lodge.

RE: Custer S.D. which CG NOT to stay at?

Just got home today from two weeks at Big Pine. Spent two weeks there last year also. Great place. Very clean bath houses and the tall pines and large sites make for a cool and comfortable place. The owners, Glen and Marci are very nice people. Try it, I think you wkill like it.

RE: Sturgis

Wife and I are leaving in the morning with our bikes tucked in the garage. We are staying at Big Pine campground in Custer. We will be there on Monday until the 12th of AUG. Stayed there last year and had a ball. We will be in our 34FT Work and play 5th wheel. Stop and say hi if you get a chance.

RE: exta fuel

Just remember, it takes fuel to carry fuel. Fuel is weight and that means you will burn more fuel to carry the extra weight. Why do you think airplane only take as mush fuel as required for the flight plus a small reserve. We learned this lesson during WW II.

RE: F350 dual-wheel diesel 2006

Love all the ford experts out there that know all about the 6.0 PSD. My 2006 F350 with over 40,000 miles has never been back to the dealer for anything. My 99 F250 had over 150,000 with 0 problems. My best buddy has a 2006 Duramax that he can't keep out of the shop, I don't think this make all Duramax trucks bad. If you go to the duramax or cummings forumns then you would most likely be afriad to buy one of them either. I have found that people don.t usually write to forumns if they are not having problems with their trucks. If you look at all the Ford PSD on the road, I think you will find the number of the one having problems small. There were some problems with the 2003-2005 PSD but the 06-07 has been a very good trucks.
